Jennifer Morla's graphic designs on view at SFMOMA

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) is pleased to present Jennifer Morla: Works from the Permanent Collection of Architecture and Design, on view from July 16 to October 19, 1999. Organized by SFMOMA Curator of Architecture, Design and Digital Projects Aaron Betsky, the exhibition features approximately 15 works by this important Bay Area graphic designer.

Morla (b. 1955) started as an in-house graphic designer for Levi's. She since has produced a kaleidoscope of different designs, ranging from highly abstract works such as her typographic announcements for installations at the Capp Street Project to thoughtful renovation of Wells Fargo's consumer products. Most recently, she was selected over four other internationally famous designers including Tibor Kalman, Margaret Youngblood, Stefan Sagmeister and Bill Oberlander among others, to create the cover of The New York Times Magazine, "Familiar," December 13, 1998.

Morla's work has been included in group exhibitions at the Huntington Gallery at the Massachusetts College of Art, the San Francisco Center for the Book and the National Museum of American Art, Washington D.C. Her work is included in the collections of SFMOMA; the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Grand Palais, France among others.
