LEVELLING THE LAND
For days on end the trucks drove back and forth in an attempt to level the land and make it as smooth as the back of your hand...
Filling up holes alternated with knocking down mounds,
following a clever method involving a compensatory divergence exchange mechanism; and the results were spectacular...The levelling
was accomplished to such perfection that a marble with a given trajectory,
would reach the opposite end without deviating
from its path in the slightest...The moral of the story
is that patience has its own rewards. Sometimes
many years afterwards.
If by inordinate bad luck death should occur before the reward
we can hope as a last resort that the living will take note of it, if
their attentions are not too distracted...
